It's been ages since I've posted a card here and since that's really why I started this to begin with (to share cards with my Mom), I guess I should try to get back to it!
This one uses a Stampin' Up set called "Peaceful Wishes." It's a great set! A fellow A Muse design team member put it to good use back in August and since I'd been drooling over it since then I finally decided to put it use myself!
I've been working on Christmas designs this week! Hopefully, they'll all be done this weekend and out in the post by Monday! And with no deadlines looming, I plan to get some fun stamping and scrapping in!

Burano, Italy
A friend of a friend married a man from Burano. I would hear stories of this little fishing village where the only non-Italian woman living there felt a bit out of place (having "stolen" one of the small island's elligble bachelors). I saw a few photos through the friend and looked forward to a time when I would be able to go to the island and photograph it myself.
During a trip to Venice last September I was finally able to spend a few hours wandering the streets and alleys of Burano, taking photos of the brightly colored homes. It's rumored they wre originally painted so brightly so the fisherman of the island could spot their house from the water when it was overcast or in bad weather. I don't know if that's really true, but it's a nice story.
As for the friend of a friend ... she and her husband-from-Burano moved to the US last year before we were able to visit. Still, I wondered which of the houses might belong to his family and might have been their home ...

Stonehenge
It's been a while, eh!? But look! I'm back! And with me come photos ...
I was in England last week and had a chance to go out to Stonehenge again on my way back to the airport. Always enjoyable ... but I'm afraid I've stopped LOOKING at it. Next time ... more REAL looking.
There's been a new visitor's center in the works for at least a couple of years now ... I'd never noticed any progress towards the changes they'd planned, but one thing was a bit different this time. The pathway 'round the back side (backside from the road at least) had been moved substantially further back than it was at the end of May. I couldn't figure out why ... unless it had something to do with the grass you walk on? Maybe they move it periodically and I haven't been going long enough to notice?
Back in May I was able to go inside the Stones after hours. No such luck on this visit, but still very cool. And besides, Ino matter where you're standing it's pretty hard to take a bad photo of this place. =)

Trier, Germany
This weekend was the Brot & Speile (Bread and Games) fest in Trier, Germany (about an hour away from my village). This photo was taken at last year's fest during one of the weekend's events called "mystic nights." Basically, take the ruins of an old Roman bath, light it up with creepy music and voila! There ya' have it!
We'd planned to go this year as well, but it didn't work out quite as planned. Cleaning for company, rain, and a birthday party took precedence. There's always next year!

Paris, France
Taken 17 April, 2005
Taken in the Place de la Concorde last spinrg, this is one of my all-time favorite photos. When people visit us, Paris is usually high on their list of places to see. This was one of those trips and after a day of sightseeing we'd stopped to talk and rest near these fountains. The man in the photo rode up on his bicycle, rested it against the fountain, and hopped up on the same ledge. I was in the right place at the right time and sat down on the groud behind him to take this photo. He was so intent on the fountains that he didn't even notice the crazy lady sitting on the ground behind him taking photos. I stood up, brushed my bum off and even took a few more before he moved. The photo is very "Paris" to me too. And, like I said, one of my all-time favoriites.
Oh yeah, that birthday cake and party I mentioned ... here's the card I made for the birthday girl, Jen.
I'm a huge fan of the big birthday background stamp and when I saw the gift bag knew I wanted to do something to match it! It was a simple card, but I love that it matches the bag so well!
The card base is Creamy Caramel, layered with Whisper White. The background stamp ("Happy Birthday Greetings") was stamped with Chocolate Chip Classic ink. The circles, from "Simply Circles," were stamped in Regal Rose, Apricot Appeal, Bashful Blue, Creamy Caramel, and Certaily Celery ... all classic ink as well.
These photos also posted to one little spark ...
Mom and I are still in the mood for Halloween cards, but between making a cake for a birthday party this evening and cleaning my house before a friend from Italy arrives on Monday, I'm running behind on my card for today's challenge (which was simply 'Halloween' again)!
So, I give you this one in the meantime! It uses the "Argyle" hostess set from the new SU catalog and an oldie, but goodie ... "Trick or Treat." I love the font used for the greeting! It's very vintage looking and I love that style!
But, I'm not giving up on finishing a new card today! It may be late when I get home (and I may have had one too many margaritas by then), but I'm still maintaining that I'll get time in my studio tonight to work. And the beauty of the time change is that even if I don't finish until 2am my time ... it will only be 8pm for Mom! ;)
Oh yeah! The card base is Basic Black, then Whisper White, and the orange is Pumpkin Pie. Same with the ink ... Basic Black and Pumpkin Pie Classic!

Stonehenge
Taken 27 May, 2006
England has been a country that's grown on me. My first experiences were in London, where I enjoyed myself, but never fell in love with the city. However, a couple of years ago Dave's work began taking him to the Oxford area on a regular basis (5 or so trips this year already) and I usually tag along. Each time we go we stay in the same little hamlet, in the same little house, and visit the the same little curry spot and take aways. And days he doesn't have to work a full day we go sightseeing. This photo was taken on our third trip to Stonehenge ... we generally plan our arrival in the evening when I think the light is prettiest. This photo was taken not long after a storm. The ground was wet (beautiful deep greens) and the sky still smoky.
