Which small businesses are hurt most by rising gas prices? What can they do to save money?

Mostly I would say any business that has a delivery service or orders goods to be shipped to their stores. 

One thing that can be done to save money in this case I would assume is to use smaller vehicles to make deliveries rather than a truck.  If the items can fit in the back of a small, fuel efficient, car then use the car... if the items are too big for the car I suppose there is no solution for that. 

Maintaining vehicles that are used for delivery are as important as how they are driven as well. Drivers should accelerate slow and be conservative on their rpms at higher speeds.  This causes very little time delays, but this can be counteracted by leaving early.  Also, keep those filters clean and your oil changed.  

Make sure your delivery drivers aren't going on any non-company related detours.  This is irresponsible and can cost you a lot of extra dough.  Install gps units to track where the trucks are going as well as their speeds.

How do you pass the time during a flight?  What do you bring in your carry-on?

Sleep is the best way, and refreshing.  Sometimes sleep isn't possible so I usually bring a handheld game, books, and my Ipod.  I try to bring as little as possible in my carry-on so that it isn't very crowded at my feet.  I have brought my laptop before to write papers on the plane for class.  Other than that, I don't really know of any other way to pass time.  Oh, except that one time I talked to the person next to me.

What are your plans for the weekend?

Since today is already gone... I plan to finish writing one ethics paper and then writing a program for class.
Today I went to meet my mentee for the Mentor program for computer science students, and then I wrote my english paper, and then I went to go see the departed. 

I invited one of my friends from high school to go with me to the movies along with some of my other friends.  It turned out to work really well even though I thought maybe we had ended on awkward terms.  I enjoyed the experience overall, and I hope to do it again. 

If you could only save one thing in a house fire (thing, not person), what would it be and why?

I would save my media drive.  I'm sure you can all guess why I wouldn't want my media drive to go up in flames... because that is where all of my backups are :)  Not to mention it is a pretty easy item to save... can be effortlessly unplugged and run out the door.  

If you could write a book about anything, what would it be about?

I am not really a big writer... although I have been told I am good at writing.  I find that I want to write something like a fiction horror that is inspired by what I dream about.  Sometimes I dream some pretty crazy things and actually wake up wondering whether or not what I was dreaming about was real... it just felt so real.  If I could portray that in writing it would make a great book... and then someone could make it into a great movie as well.  I really think it would be a pretty sweet deal to be an author, but I don't think i'm cut out for the committment that is required.

It really depends on who... naturally if it is someone in my family, generally phone... but not often.  Unless it is my sister in which case I use email generally.  Friends are phone and email... b/c sometimes you can't plan things far enough in advance for someone who isn't on the computer all the time to read your emails :)

What movie would you really recommend renting or seeing this weekend?

The Descent was a great movie, and if you are able to go and see it I would recommend it.  It is one of the most scary movies I have seen since I have been living on this planet.
